Calgary – Jan. 24 – The Prana Yoga Festival is coming to Calgary March 17-19, 2017. Hosted at the Chinese Cultural Center, it will be three days of yoga, meditation, nutrition, movement and deep connection. The Prana Yoga Festival is a homegrown festival, unique to Calgary, with its yoga classes taught by industry experts and featuring a marketplace and live entertainment.
With roots of her own in Calgary’s local yoga community as an instructor, founder of the festival Danielle Dixon, believes that “the yoga community in Calgary is so incredibly strong, and hungry for more, and we’re excited to be bringing this to the city”. She is also excited to join forces with local businesses such as Seed Yoga, Yoga Passage, Yummi Yogi’s, Nourish Sweat Soul and TruBuch as contributors to the marketplace, available to all festival attendees and to the general public.
“Calgary is such a suburban city with so many wonderful studios”, says Dixon, “and because of that, it’s tough to experience the huge amount of talent that we have in the city”. The festival is an opportunity to bring not only yogis, but local businesses from across the city together as one united force.
There will be a wide variety of yoga classes offered over the three day festival that will focus on handstands, hips, flow, meditation, and more. Additional activities will include world dance, intention setting and meditation workshops, nutrition seminars and mala bead making. Dixon says that she is “really excited to create this space to bring this wonderful community together to connect and learn, and create some really fun, impactful memories”.
