SEPTEMBER 2025: As part of its regular engagement with the City of Calgary, the board of the SMCA was provided notice of the City of Calgarys intention to sell city owned land located at 15 Santana Hill NW, in the community of Sandstone.

The sale of this land was approved by the City Council during the Council Meeting held on July 29th 2025 under its Non-Market Housing Land Disposition Policy.
It was noted both in the Citys engagement with the SMCA board & on public documents that this land is not currently designated a park or open space, therefore – it was therefore eligible to be considered to address the cities housing needs under existing policies.
While the individuals making up the SMCA Board and/or volunteer groups may live within the vicinity of this land or have their own personal preferences regarding the cities housing, zoning and land use policy, the SMCA board & Community Association continues to remain neutral on this matter, with its core role being one of communication & engagement.
